Hide & Seek
Tonight as I arrived home, I entered to find, as usual, Dulcie hopping off the rocking chair to greet me. I kicked off my shoes, went to turn up the heat, and called “Beau!”
On the way by, I turned on the computer and went to the foot of the staircase to look up at my tabby. No Beast gazed back at me.
Carrying my shoes upstairs, I dumped them in the storage cube in my room. No Beau. Maybe he was asleep on A’s bed, curled up on her soft blanket as he often does. No kitty there either.
Was he already waiting for me in the bathroom, looking toward the door for me to enter and turn on the tap in the tub? No cat sitting on the footstool.
Where was my boyo? He’s old, I worry about him. I had to change and track him down.
I re-entered my room and sat on the edge of the bed to pull off my socks. Uh oh, a big lump was there. In a second a furry bewhiskered face poked out from under the quilts. Smart cat, finding one of the warmest places in the house! We touched noses and I skritched his furry noggin before giving it a little smooch.

My elder Zoe now cuddles up to me at night, under the covers. After a time, she moves up towards the pillow, away from my body warmth (oh please don’t go Zoe! It is you which is keeping me warm!). However, lately I have found the during the night, she has gravitated back toward me, sleeping behind my back.
Cats can be pretty sweet (even Cats from Hell).
