Nifty Things — Spudware

This is so neat.

I’m kind of a hippie in some ways. There is a drawer in the kitchen full of plastic silverware brought home from picking up take-out food. I try to wash and reuse them as much as possible but especially during the summer (bag lunch season for my children) lots of spoons in particular go out the door.

Finally no one needs to to feel mildly to heavily guilty about using and tossing plastic silverware. Made from corn and potato starch, Vegware cutlery biodegrades in about half a year.

The best news for me is that don’t have to be one-time use. According to the FAQs:

Can I reuse Vegware cutlery?

* Yes. Please do - our utensils are marketed mainly as disposables, but there is no need to throw them away! Wash and dry them, then store in a dry environment.

Get some of the cornstarch-based packing “peanuts,” then eat them in front of people…it freaks them out!

Re cornstarch peanuts: if you lick one and then stick it firmly to your tongue your children will look at you with horrified expressions, that I know for certain.
