Dododreams

My sister has a dog who I have long thought of as the real-life Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog, the companion to Tom Terrific from a cartoon segment of Captain Kangaroo show.

Her dog is a big lunk, perhaps a Rottweiler/Golden Retriever cross based his size, the the breadth of his chest, the curl of his hair (including the tufts between his toes) and the nobility of his profile. He’s as sweet as a summer day is long and not entirely bright, as inclined to woof at a fierce marauding sparrow as a real threat. He lumbers about, being friendly and interested, then collapses for a rest with a sigh and a thumping tail. He is, without question, one heck of a nice big dog.
